Job Description:

The Role: Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Provides direct patient care and administrative assistance in the setting of a physician practice/medical office in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Radiation Oncology team at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care. MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care (HACCC) in Augusta, Maine is a proud partner of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, a coordinated system of care with the support of the Harold Alfond Foundation and in affiliation with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The HACCC staff cares for more than 12 percent of Maine's cancer population and sees more than 7,000 individuals with a cancer diagnosis annually, including more than 1,100 newly diagnosed cases. This is a per diem position.

The Work:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

  • Evaluates the needs of patient and/or family and provides appropriate support, appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Collaborates, as needed, across disciplines to coordinate appropriate patient services. Effectively delegates to ancillary personnel. May precept nursing students or new hires.

  • Executes the plan of care for the oncology patient including administration of medication and symptom management. Communicates patient condition as appropriate.

    You Have:

  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required

  • Prior Oncology RN work experience and certification, preferred

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to operate and excel in a healthcare environment with many inherent stressors.
