Key Responsibilities:

  • Drives and leads the market access processes in a given therapeutic area by close internal and external collaboration.

  • Monitoring trends and changes in political environment, reimbursement law and healthcare legislation

  • Develops a strong professional partnership with external entities so that those groups can fully understand BMS and its positions and support them when appropriate.

  • Design and lead assigned GA activities, building aligned multi-stakeholder strategies and platforms that make a valuable contribution to healthcare delivery, create consensus and demonstrate BMS’s commitment.

  • Build and execute BMS’s GA plans ensuring relevant insights and anticipated trends are provided to the company, securing opportunities to shape the external environment.

  • Use external insights to challenge business and brand strategies for improved delivery in line with our stakeholders’ expectations.

  • Establish and cultivate relationships and engagement with pivotal stakeholders: payers, policy makers, government officials and non-govermental organizations

  • Utilize insights from key stakeholders and identify opportunities for access solutions and business goals

  • Provide and manage policy discussions/ communications to government officials, non govermental entities and other external stakeholders tailored to BMS portfolio, incorporating cross-functional actions.

  • Elevate community awareness and explore opportunities for strategic collaborations with government and non governmental entities.

  • Organize and participate in key policy forums and activities to support company goals and policy positions

  • Creates and communicates a compelling vision how BMS Hungary can shape the external policy environment that generates excitement, enthusiasm and commitment across the organization. Conducts all activity on behalf of the organization consistent with the BMS pledge and mission and especially all applicable internal policies.

  • Forecasts general healthcare trends as reflected in media.

  • Masters the understanding of the complex relationships, processes, laws, issues and history that define and govern the political/legislative governmental institutions at the central and local levels. Top-line understanding of health economics and pricing principles.

  • Owning and managing the interactions with Patient Advocacy Groups and other advocates and developing strategies for meaningful partnerships.

  • Converts complex information into easily understood themes that are consistent with the overall massage of the organization and instigates internal and external information flow.

  • Contributes to strategic development of European brand-related policy projects, builds, and executes national action plans. Identifies cross-functional and divisional needs in terms of information and communication.

  • Supports the General Manager in industry associations, government forums and media with the aim of positively shaping the external business environment and company’s image.

  • Builds strong internal relationships that foster open communications and an understanding of the internal clients’ needs.

  • Acts as a pro-active thinker by proposing innovative communication actions to optimize our message and the flow of information.

  • Establishes and maintains a relationship network with key media. Develops a strong professional relationship also with external entities so that those groups can fully understand BMS and its positions and support them when appropriate.

  • Drives product and pipeline programs in the market – implements marketing programs through the development of communications and PR strategies and tactics to effectively reach and influence key audiences; Employs the most effective media to deliver messages to maximum effect.

  • Adapts and implements international action plans to local needs to support the development and the successful implementation of global communication policy and strategies with respect to brand-related activities and general healthcare policy issues.

  • Works across internal functions and departments to ensure consistent approach to the management of issues, external relationships and representations on behalf of BMS. Assembles, mobilizes, and participates in internal cross-functional teams to develop policy-based government affairs programs to address specific BMS market issues

  • Coordinates and executes strategic communication input on issues that impact the company’s reputation to help ensure a positive corporate image in media.

  • Collaborates with other key functions in Hungary and with the European and Global Public Affairs teams to ensure consistent and aligned approach to all communication strategies.

  • Provides ‘early issue alert’ to senior management through consistent media monitoring.

  • Thinks in a clear, decisive manner. Manages pressure and makes complex, highly sensitive decisions under tight time frame.

  • Navigates successfully between corporate and individual business interests. Able to manage the specific needs of a business or product while maintaining a focus on the best interests of the company.

  • Creates new and innovative ways of doing things, demonstrates flexibility, open-mindedness and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.

  • Manage multiple priorities and competing interests.

Experiences & Knowledge Desired:

  • Education in marketing and communication, journalism, political sciences or social sciences preferable.

  • Experience within the area of PR (and/or within) national media, developing communication policy.

  • Experience in effectively and persuasively articulating complex issues to key stakeholders.

  • Experience in analyzing complex issues, utilizing strategic thinking and implementing tactical plans.

  • Working experience in one or more diversified businesses (notably within the healthcare industry).

  • Solid experience in public relations/public affairs role (eg. Corporate, PR agency, healthcare journalism) and media relations.

  • Practice in communication tools (i.e. audiovisual, press)

  • Background in rapid-response environment, managing competing demands within tight deadlines

  • Has worked in Hungary, is speaking Hungarian and is familiar with the Hungarian environment

  • Demonstrated ability to get results in complex, possibly adverse conditions

  • Specialized knowledge of health PR and/or journalism.

  • Understanding of healthcare systems, including funding policies. Pharmaceutical law, Medical Reimbursement Act and general pricing and HEOR mechanisms.

  • Understanding of Bristol-Myers Squibb products and its priority business objectives.

  • Knowledge of the operations and issues associated with the pharmaceutical, nutritional and medical device businesses.

  • Knowledge of how to establish and build on a network of key influencers around issues of mutual interest.

  • Appreciation of cultural diversity, human behavior, business and organizational strategies.

  • Knowledge of social aspects of business and ability to operate in a diverse, global environment.

  • Knowledge of competitors in the industry and effective competitive strategy.

  • Mastery of the spoken and written word, excellent communications and interpersonal skills

  • Fluency in English (beside national mother tongues). Other languages an asset
