The Department of Statistics in the Physical Sciences Division at the University of Chicago invites applications for one or more teaching positions as an Instructional Professor (open rank) to help us continue to develop our undergraduate educational mission. The selected candidate(s) will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Instructional Professor, Associate Instructional Professor, or Instructional Professor, depending on qualifications. The appointment(s) will be for a term of up to five years, renewable. This is a career-track position with potential progression, competitive salary, and benefits.

Position responsibilities include teaching, ongoing professional development, and non-classroom instructional, or service duties as needed. Expected start date is September 1, 2024.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the University.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in statistics, or related field where statistical concepts or methods play an important role.
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience, either as an instructor of record or as a teaching assistant.

Preferred:

  • College-level teaching experience in applied or theoretical statistics.
