This position reports directly to the Vice President of Government Affairs and Sr. Medical Director, Employer Strategy and is a member of the Leadership Team. The Executive Director, Employer Strategy MD will be responsible for support of the Employer/Payer Clinical operations. This role will serve as medical oncologist to lead and support the payer, employer, direct to consumer and international programs, inclusive of second opinions, tele-oncology, product and program development, sales and client management.
City of Hope is building off its strong foundation as a leading treatment and research center for oncology to redefine what it means to be a world leader in oncology care in the 21st century. COH has embraced the importance of the employer and payer in the overall oncology ecosystem and has launched a division to address the needs of this important customer base. At a high level, the goals of this division is to fill the need nationally to support cancer patients in their journey close to home. City of Hope has designed programs to support that payer, physician network and the insured member with information and leading edge decision support with the goal of improving the empowerment and care of the cancer patient that may not receive care at City of Hope. The Service is off to a fast start with commitments from employers and health management organizations, support from benefit consulting firms, and with ongoing and promising discussions with payers and many more large employers.
The Executive Director, Employer Strategy MD will fill a key role in the ongoing design and operations of this division, and be a part of changing the way people think about receiving optimal cancer care in the future.
Working in a team lead by the President, Strategy and Business Ventures, helps to develop and implement the strategic plan, create/evolve/deploy standard operating procedures (SOPs), help create/lead/maintain/evolve employee and consumer-facing cancer care programs’ infrastructure/content, reviews and analyzes data related to the clinical aspects of the payor and employer strategy.
Helps to develop SOPs, tools, and data that deepen existing payor and medical group relationships, and establish and expand City of Hope’s employer relationships.
Help lead develop of analytical models to assess impact of employer/consumer facing offers to key stakeholders. This includes leadership and development of a metricized model for performance assessment of the effectiveness, impact, and return on investment of these offers
Provide organizational clinical leadership within matrixed organization to promote success of strategic priority initiatives such as employer payor solutions, international and direct to consumer tele-oncology as well as other strategic initiatives to be assigned from time to time.
Provide clinical services, clinical appropriateness reviews, utilization management reviews, genomic test orders, and provide peer-to-peer physician support services that are part of the offerings provided to the market by COH’s suite of employer, payer, and consumer services.
Serve as the clinical support to the team and supervise physicians’ participation in the employee payor solutions & value based contracts as well as the application of payors in values based contracts
Fosters strong relationships with other City of Hope leaders to build and support the infrastructure, financial plan, and pricing models needed to achieve patient growth objectives.
Working as part of the employer services team to analyze and identify opportunities to establish direct relationships with employers and strategic relationship with payors and employers in order to increase access to City of Hope National Medical Center and City of Hope Medical Foundation.
Working as part of the employer services team to build healthcare collaborative relationships with high level leaders within large employers, payors, benefit consultants and employer associations for business development functions.
Supports the development and communication of strategic plans with physicians and other key stakeholders to obtain buy in and support for proposed employer development initiatives.
Supports the sales of COH oncology/precision medicine solutions, and account management supporting customer relations and new business activities.
Helps develop and lead customer relations management for the employer and consumer-based offerings
Working as part of the employer team that establishes a national reputation for value based care and cutting edge solutions for enhancing oncology care among employers and payors through employer strategy performance metrics and benchmarks.
Supports Enterprise activities surrounding government and payor programs. Collaborates with other City of Hope leaders to build and support the infrastructure, the financial plan, data collection, analysis, reporting and pricing models needed to achieve patient growth objectives.
- Medical physician and Board Eligible in Medical or Hematologic Oncology; Board Certified preferred.
Minimum Experience :
- 8 years or more in executive leadership role at academic medical center or highly reputable healthcare organization.
Req. Certification/Licensure : Must possess a current Medical License.
