JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position. A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Patricia Aguilar to study the molecular mechanism of pathogenesis of arthropod-borne viruses. The candidate should be highly motivated and must be able to plan and perform experiments in an independent manner with minimal supervision. The applicant will also be responsible for writing papers, protocols, and lab reports associated with these projects. Applicants should be highly motivated and able to conduct independent research with knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline with increasing professional achievement. The applicant must meet all State and Federal requirements necessary for working with select agents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must have experience working with infectious agents or laboratory experience working with animals. Experience in a BSL-3 work environment is preferred but not required.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience.
