Job Description Summary:

Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • MD from an accredited institution, completed a three-year fellowship in cardiology and a one or two-year fellowship in cardiac intervention from an accredited program or equivalent work experience.
  • ABIM Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Intervention.

Experience:

  • Five years or more of experience in Cardiovascular Disease Management
  • Cardiac Interventional skills and several years of chronic total occlusion experience.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Provide interventional cardiology services on a routine basis in the Cardiac Cath lab. The services will include cardiac intervention and chronic total occlusion intervention. Provide an array of diagnostic catheterization procedures as needed to care for the cardiovascular patient population.
  • Provide patient clinical services in the clinic, ambulatory, and in-patient settings. Complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in department committees, meetings and other activities as scheduled.
  • Participate in scholarly activities including education and research activities with students and fellows as well as independently if desired.
  • Participate in interventional call in a similar fashion to other interventional cardiologists.
