Para Los Ninos DVSS Case Manager in Los Angeles, California

Position Overview

Under the direct supervision of the DVSS Clinical Program Manager, the Case Manager is responsible for assessing client needs, co-creating safety plans, co-creating service plans and facilitating groups that will support DVSS participants, along with providing ongoing case management services and EBSS to help participants reach desired goals and maintain an adequate level of functioning and sustainability.

Duties

  • Carries out Mission, Vision, and Values established by the President/C.E.O. and Board of Directors.
  • Participate in the agencys Continuous Quality Improvement process for the division.
  • Conducts intakes and assessments/evaluations of clients.
  • Creates Safety Plan and Service Plan with DVSS participants.
  • Assists clients in implementing case plans, as well as, carrying out problem solving activities directed towards resolution of any challenges.
  • Facilitates groups such as Nurturing Parenting, Domestic Violence Support Group, Life Skills, Conflict Resolution, etc.
  • Provides concrete support and EBSS as needed and program allows through the American Rescue Plan to respond to the economic and social harm DV survivors experience as a result of or exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic.
  • Provides support counseling services and crisis intervention to clients.
  • Conducts home visits to provide participants with intensive intervention services when needed.
  • Collaborates with DPSS to do Outreach Services in order to increase awareness of Domestic Violence.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports in connection with case progress or community contact.
  • Collaborates with supervisor and appropriate specialist or consultants on specific case related problems.
  • Participates in GAIN Orientation/Job Club Presentations to provide information regarding Domestic Violence Supportive Services.
  • Participates in staff meetings, case conferences and professional consultation as necessary.
  • Must have ability to nurture respectful relationship with clients, children and must be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Has knowledge of evaluating risk for suicidal and homicidal ideation, imminent danger and knows appropriate intervention.
  • 40 Hour Domestic Violence Certificate, preferred.
  • Nurturing Parenting Certificate, preferred.
  • Have skills in providing counseling and support to clients experiencing emotional distress.
  • Strong knowledge of Child Abuse/Crisis Intervention techniques.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (E/S) required.

Education and Certification Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Social Work or related field.
  • At least two (2) years experience working with low-income children and families.

Other Requirements

  • Must have reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed). Valid Class C drivers license, transportation and State required automobile insurance coverage.
  • T.B clearance, to be renewed every two years.

  • Approximately 50% of time is spent sitting, while frequently required to walk, stand and bend.
  • Must be able to speak and hear well.
  • Good vision is imperative.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Employee will be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance.
