MD Anderson Cancer Center Postdoctoral Fellow - Head & Neck Surgery - Research in MDA-On-Site, United States
The Amit Laboratory is in the Department of Head and neck Surgery. The core mission of this laboratory is to develop therapeutic approaches to improve cancer patients' survival, treatment responses, and quality of life with a particular focus on cancer-related neurogenesis and axonogenesis and on the role of neuro-immunology in cancer. Using cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, we endeavor to study how the neural microenvironment affects responses to chemotherapy and immunotherapy in patients with non-melanoma skin cancer and other cancers, and to develop novel strategies to combat resistance to these therapies. The Amit Laboratory is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in neuroscience, immunology, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy in tumor microenvironment of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. An interest in neuro immune research is required but hands-on experience is not required as ample training can be provided.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The individual will learn experimental methods and broaden their knowledge and experiences related to the study of cancer neuroscience by using mice model, cell lines, utilize state-of-the-art spatial imaging technologies, multielectrode array (MEA) in addition to informatics techniques in a highly collaborative, stimulating, and collegial research environment. This position will provide opportunities for professional development and the acquisition of cutting-edge skills in analysis of clinical specimens, tissue imaging approaches, research planning and strategy, data analysis and interpretation, and collaborative projects.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
A Ph.D. degree is required. Qualified candidates should have strong background in one or more of the following areas: neuroscience, cancer biology, neuroimmunology, medicine, pathology, odontology. Strong communication skills, experience in attending conferences, and a track record of excellent first author publication during PhD training is essential. Must have collaborative, curious, creative, proactive, and organized temperament.
POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html) . This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
