The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, Advancement Services, the Coordinator assists with all aspects of data integrity and information production for the Development and Alumni Relations department (DAR). S/he supports data integrity programs and projects; runs biographical and gift-related queries and reports, reviewing and manipulating data as required; performs core biographical research; streamlines and provides data entry to the department's fundraising database; and provides backup support for DAR gift processing. S/he organizes designated projects and follows through under general guidance. The position requires cross-training to support the functions of other staff members on the Gift Management team.

Responsibilities

  1. Creates and runs entity and prospect integrity reports, identifying and researching data gaps and performing updates as needed.
  2. Supports DAR production of gift and biographical reports from the Athena database and DataHub.
  3. Serves as backup for gift processing. Enters gifts, pledges, and credit card transactions as needed. Assists in projects and events associated with gift processing, such as Columbia Giving Day, holiday coverage, changes related to in-house processing, etc.
  4. Oversees various programs and projects. Manages DAR's 'addressupdate' inbox, return mail assessment and updates, MyCBS data sync processing, and deceasing alumni records.
  5. Interacts with colleagues as well as University and departmental representatives on a variety of projects. Works proactively and collaboratively to identify issues, make recommendations, alert appropriate individuals, and take necessary actions to resolve or prevent problems. Documents resulting changes to practice and policy for future reference.
  6. Identifies and focuses on specific data for research, applying critical thinking and analytical reasoning.
  7. Maintains data upload templates and provides guidance on the process.
  8. Performs special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of three (3) years related experience with databases and data visualization tools. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a high-volume environment. Must be analytical and have strong problem-solving ability. Must be organized, self-directed, and able to exercise a high level of independent judgment and discretion. Ability to present clear information and communicate, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of management is essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications and superior ability to leverage database programs is required. Proficient in employing Microsoft Excel to process, cleanse, and manipulate data to meet desired objectives. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
