Responsibilities

The Experimental Division at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) seeks candidates at the Staff Scientist level who can contribute to the development of new science using the unique tritium capabilities at LLE who can bring new capabilities to ongoing global magnetic and inertial confinement fusion missions, who will conduct experiments and/or perform simulations using the facilities at LLE, and who will engage with and mentor graduate students in the Division. In addition to a good understanding of vacuum and material science or chemical engineering, the successful candidate should have good interpersonal skills, a willingness to work in a team, and the ability to communicate well in writing.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in an appropriate sub-field of physics, experience as a postdoc or equivalent position, and demonstrated their expertise by publishing their research in peer-reviewed journals.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 31,200 - $500,000 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
