Become a Senior Advisor, Corporate Philanthropy at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll responsible for developing the strategic and programmatic needs related to the company’s environmental and public safety grant portfolios, with a combined value of approximately $8 million on an annual basis. This involves the administration and grant funding execution of over 200 nonprofit grants. You will manage and monitor large and/or long-term projects with nonprofit partners as well as coordinate charitable contribution sponsorships and our volunteer program. To be successful, you must maintain a strong community network to develop and manage localized, high impact/high visibility community and external engagement strategies in partnership with external-facing Operating Units (OU).

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Review, analyze and make recommendations on grant proposals, project/program outcomes, governance structure, evaluation/measurements and financial statements.

  • Monitor grant investments and serve as a primary contact for grantees in the portfolio, along with key community partners, nonprofit networks and funders to strengthen organizational capacity of grantees and sector.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and provide counsel to senior leaders, employees and communicators to enhance existing grantmaking efforts and increase company reputation and presence through nonprofit board placements and initiating, maintaining and enhancing relationships with external partners.

  • Lead the assessment of data, metrics, evaluation, and impact reporting related to the implementation of the charitable contributions strategic plan.

  • Condense and analyze data, crafting comprehensive reports and presentations to articulate outcomes and methodologies effectively.

  • Manage key projects by developing, implementing and leading project teams, program charters, project plans, communications plans, budget management and lessons learned to ensure all work is completed within scope.

  • Conduct site visits and due diligence on current and potential grantees to prepare grant recommendations, evaluate progress and impact reports.

  • Participate in diverse external engagements, including meetings, events, presentations, and conferences, to serve as a prominent ambassador for the Corporate Philanthropy team. Develop strong community ties and enhance organizational presence and accessibility through active involvement.

  • Serve as a Public Information Officer on a rotating basis during activations and complete continuous trainings for IMT personnel as required by the CPUC and Business Resiliency, may include occasional night and weekend shifts.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The essentials

  • Ten or more years of experience in corporate philanthropy, nonprofit grant making, or community relations.

  • Experience working with nonprofit and community-based organizations.

  • Experience using grantmaking databases and employee engagement platforms.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nonprofit or Public Administration, Business or related field.

  • Experience in planning and managing enterprise-wide programs, projects and engagement plans.

  • Project Management coursework or certification.

  • Experience in developing communications, storytelling, training and resources across multiple platforms.

  • Crafting and deploying quantitative models to drive strategic business decisions. Proficient in analyzing diverse portfolios of work to discern optimal initiative prioritization, thereby facilitating achievement of key business objectives.

  • Experience leading corporate-wide charitable projects and using related grant management databases or web-based platforms such as America’s Charity, Smart Simple, Benevity, CyberGrants.

  • Creative and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience leading others through influence and collaboration (program/project/campaign lead).

  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets, metrics and reports.

  • Effective decision making, results delivery, team building skills and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
