The Role

The Director, National Deployment will be responsible for leading the deployment of the Custom Network for the National team. As a critical member of the Lumen custom network national leadership team, this role owns standards, drives operational excellence, and ensures seamless deployment while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and information security. The successful candidate will have a positive, collaborative attitude to work across internal organizations in the establishment and execution of deployment plans.

The Main Responsibilities

Deployment Strategy and Standards

  • Define and own end-to-end model and cross functional organizational deployment standards, processes, and best practices for the National team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure consistent deployment methodologies across regions.

  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness in deployment execution.

  • Responsible for all Network assets in all cable landing stations, running line sites, city gateways, and building points of presence. Oversees the operations of the city gateways, submarine landing stations, in-line amplifier sites, signal regeneration sites and terminal sites.

Regional Functional Leadership

  • Provide functional leadership to National deployment teams.

  • Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Monitor deployment progress, address bottlenecks, and ensure timely project delivery.

Acquisition and Construction

  • Oversee site acquisition, permitting, and construction activities.

  • Collaborate with real estate, legal, and engineering teams to secure sites and build infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Establish quality control processes for deployment activities.

  • Conduct regular audits to verify adherence to standards.

  • Drive continuous improvement in deployment quality.

Safety and Information Security

  • Ensure that all Custom Network results meet or exceed all service levels including on-time performance for service installation and repair work, installation quality to include meeting Company accepted and industry standards and initial installation fault rates.

  • Prioritize safety protocols during deployment, including site inspections and risk assessments.

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies.

  • Communicate deployment progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Build strong relationships to facilitate successful deployment outcomes.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with 3+ years of leadership experience

  • 3+ years of process improvement and/or project management experience

  • Experience with direct management of national deployments

  • Working knowledge of regulatory rules on a national and state level

  • Results orientation with a demonstrated track record of success

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to articulate information clearly, in a well-organized format, and demonstrates an understanding of operational needs

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment, with agility, resilience, and a customer-centric mindset.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$128,310 - $171,080 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
