What you'll do...

The Staff Data Scientist in the Ads team at Sam's Club, part of Walmart Inc., is a key player in enhancing and implementing Machine Learning (ML) innovations that elevate our advertising strategies. This role is fundamental to crafting and refining ML models that bolster ad targeting, relevance, and efficiency, leading to increased member engagement and revenue generation through our eCommerce platforms and in-club promotions.

As a Staff Data Scientist, you will take a lead role in the development lifecycle of ML-based advertising products-from ideation to execution. Working in synergy with ML Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Technologists, you will use your analytical prowess and ML expertise to influence ad strategies, integrate cutting-edge ML algorithms, and challenge traditional business models to meet and exceed our strategic goals.

What you'll do:

  • Spearhead the development of backend ML models that drive AI-powered ad solutions, creating more tailored and impactful member interactions.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to pioneer innovations in ad technology through deep insights, analytics, and ML prototypes.

  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from data analysis and model development to prototyping and implementation, ensuring smooth communication with all stakeholders.

  • Lead the establishment of an MLOps framework to facilitate the ongoing enhancement, testing, and deployment of algorithms, aiming to optimize ad personalization and effectiveness.

What you'll bring:

  • Advanced skills in the development and deployment of large-scale ML models, especially focusing on ad targeting, relevance, and optimization.

  • Experience utilizing public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) to deploy scalable ML solutions efficiently.

  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, Scala) and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn), underpinned by a solid grasp of MLOps practices, including design documentation, testing, and source code management with Git.

  • Agile project management capabilities, adept at using tools like JIRA, and a driven problem-solver with a passion for impacting the retail sector at scale.

  • 8+ years of experience in Similar Domain or tech stack

  • Background in digital advertising, marketing personalization, recommendation algorithms, or similar fields.

  • Expertise in causal inference, A/B testing designs, multi-variate testing, and other advanced analytical methods.

  • Knowledge of advertising targeting and measurement solutions, digital marketing analytics tools, and specific technologies such as GCP, BQ, and Elastic/SOLR/Vector Search.

  • Experience in designing highly scalable, resilient systems for customer-facing applications and familiarity with optimization techniques.

  • Proficiency with MLOps architecture tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Kubeflow, and experience in API development within a Python environment.

Sunnyvale, California US-08479:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

DALLAS, Texas US-09648/Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
