Fairleigh Dickinson University Adjunct Professor of Astronomy-Florham- Spring 2024 in Teaneck, New Jersey

Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics of Fairleigh Dickinson University is seeking to hire adjuncts to teach lecture and lab sections of Astronomy on the Florham campus during the semester Spring 2024. These sections meet in person and are scheduled to meet during the evening.

Required Qualifications:

Responsibilities

· Provide quality instruction* for undergraduate non- STEM students

· Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate feedback in a timely manner

· Hold regular office hours

· Track student attendance

· Submit attendance verification, midterm grades and final grades online

· Reply to emails from students, lab coordinators, and administrators in a timely manner

· Commit to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

· Follow established teaching protocols within the physics program

· Arrive before lab to set up experimental equipment (as necessary)

*Quality instruction includes, but is not limited to, arriving on time and prepared to engage students through evidence-based active learning pedagogies, and/or assisting students with data collection and analysis via thoughtful guidance and encouragement.

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.

Qualifications

A minimum of a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience and strong recommendations from references.
