JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Laboratory of Dr. Makova (http://www.bx.psu.edu/makova_lab/) in the Department of Biology (http://science.psu.edu/bio) at The Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu) seeks an Associate Research Professor, to work as part of a research team focused on the analysis of mutations in the human and other genomes.

The successful applicant must have the ability to plan, execute, interpret, document, and troubleshoot independent research. The candidate must also be able to collaborate effectively with other computational and experimental members of a diverse research team. The successful candidate will excel at mentoring junior members of the lab, contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grants, and communicate their science to peers and the public through presentations, writing, and digital formats. Excellent organizational and verbal and written English communication skills are required. Professional development through the acquisition of new skills will be expected.

A successful candidate should possess at least a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a science related field . Applicants must include a cover letter that summarizes relevant experience and specific reasons for interest in the position, along with a CV that includes contact information for three references (name, position, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address).

This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of refunding.
