Job Description
The Department of Music in the School of Arts, Media, and Communication at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Music specializing in Vocal Performance (Soprano or Mezzo-soprano), beginning fall 2024.
The primary responsibility will be to teach applied voice lessons for both music majors and some non-majors. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching vocal pedagogy, diction, and/or vocal literature, depending upon the candidate’s strengths and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented departmental culture, and to undertake other duties according to the needs of the department.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Department of Music is a unit of the School of the Arts, Media & Communication. The Performing Arts Center, opened in April 2005, features a concert hall with flexible acoustics designed by Jaffe-Holden Acoustics, and is the principal performance venue of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Corpus Christi Chorale, as well as student and faculty performances. The new Arts & Media building which will be the new home of the Department of Music is expected to open in Fall of 2026.

Required Qualifications:
A completed doctorate in vocal performance and/or vocal pedagogy. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
Demonstrated ability to teach applied voice is required.
Evidence of ability to be a successful teacher, scholar, performer, and congenial colleague is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Other desirable secondary areas include vocal pedagogy, diction for singers, and/or vocal literature.
Basic piano proficiency and demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students are highly desired.
